Effects of Soil Properties and Tree Species on Root–Soil Anchorage Characteristics

Root anchoring provides nonnegligible assistance to prevent soil erosion and stabilize slopes. The ability of plants suffers a tremendous impact from the conditions root characteristics. To reveal reinforcement effect, group pullout tests was conducted on five different tree systems (Pinus tabulaeformis, Betula platyphylla, Larix gmelinii, Quercus mongolica, Ulmus pumila) with moisture contents dry weights. results indicate that property (species, diameter, tensile strength) condition (water content 9.72%, 12.72%, 15.72%, 18.72%, weight 1.32 g/cm3, 1.42 1.52 g/cm3) had significant effect soil. is more obvious for roots larger diameter higher strength.
